Simple Barely There Makeup

Every beauty junkie knows that as much fun as it is to play with makeup the well-groomed no-makeup makeup look is a foolproof way to face the day. Here are the keys to getting it right from Toronto-based pro makeup artist Jodi Urichuk:

1. It starts with good skin care: clean exfoliated well-moisturized skin.

2. Tinted moisturizer or a foundation applied with a damp sponge [to keep it sheer] will even out your skin tone. Whats great about a tinted moisturizer is it almost always has an SPF says Urichuk.

3. Look for an illuminating concealer because it is easy to use and the formula is lightweight yet stays in place. Apply it under the eye around the nose and even to highlight the area above the centre of your lip.

4. An eyelash curler is a great way to open up the eyes without having to put on mascara says Urichuk. If you cant bear to go without just apply one coat or use a dark brown rather than black shade.

5. Matte bronzing powder is great used as a blush on all skin types and all ages says Urichuk. If you have fair skin go easy but if you have an olive complexion you can use a little more. Using a big soft powder brush always apply bronzer where the sun would naturally hit your face [cheekbones forehead nose and chin].

6. Cream blush or blush sticks are super-easy especially for women with lighter skin who dont enjoy the sun-kissed look. These are wonderful on women of all skin tones but with darker skin you need to use deeper colours. These are easily applied with your fingers and the bonus is they double as sheer lipsticks!

7. This isnt about a dewy look so blotting powders or papers are a must to keep shine at bay.

The overall key to this look is to not use too much makeup. Less is more says Urichuk. Only apply concealer or foundation where needed—you want people to notice you not your makeup. If you have freckles let them shine through! And always be sure to blend blend blend.
